Communications Assistant, Full-Time
Develops and implements communications projects and public relations program that support the Blood Bank of Hawaii’s volunteer blood donor recruiting efforts. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with a diverse population, to include blood drive coordinators, volunteer donors, and local media representatives. Must produce high quality, innovative programs and products in support of donor recruiting efforts in a timely and positive manner. Will have access to and will work with confidential information and must be able to use discretion and sensitivity to meet the needs of the Blood Bank of Hawaii and its many different publics. Researches and prepares appropriate communications and public relations material targeted for various audiences, to include high schools, community groups, employers, communications and media departments. Assists with the coordination of events to include donor recognition functions, annual high school workshop, annual employee training day and holiday programs. Requires: Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in journalism/public relations; two years communications/public relations experience; computer literate, with desktop publishing experience and working knowledge of Quark and Photoshop; ability to identify opportunities and develop creative promotional and/or publicity events to maximize visibility for the community blood program. Must be flexible in meeting day-to-day recruiting needs; public relations photographic experience.
Director of Quality Assurance, Full Time
We are seeking an individual with demonstrated ability to lead our quality assurance and improvement programs. Coordinates, monitors, facilitates and analyzes all activities relating to quality while utilizing the highest standards of performance. Responsible for assuring that procedures and practices conform to meet or exceed the regulatory requirements and generally accepted compliance and audit program, and ensures organizational adherence to all State, Federal, and local regulations. Must be able to research, develop, and implement an devaluate new and existing methodologies, including instrumentation, quality control practices and procedures. Requires Baccalaureate degree; MT, SBB, RN or degree in Industrial Engineering or Systems Analysis with a medical science minor or an allied health science discipline desirable. Organizational skills in completing projects in an effective, time-efficient manner. Proven ability to relate to people in a positive and professional manner.
Laboratory Assistant, Part Time
Prepares and modifies blood components from whole blood for storage, transfusion or further manufacture. Must have a working comprehension of specific and designated laboratory procedures and tasks; be able to read and follow directions and perform procedures that are considered to be straightforward in nature; and be capable of performing routine instrument maintenance. Must be able to recognize the existence of common procedural problems and be able to communicate information. Must possess manual dexterity and be able to use and maintain laboratory equipment; record data in legible handwriting. Science degree from an accredited college or equivalent experience preferred; medical/clinical laboratory experience preferred. High level of attention to detail; able to lift 50 pound packages and containers. Must be flexible with work hours to include early mornings and late evenings, as well as weekends, and be able to adjust hours to meet needs for blood in the community.
Medical Technologist, Full Time
Duties include reference laboratory work, donor viral testing, labeling &
performing quality control on reagents & components. This individual must be
able to operate and maintain equipment in a heavily regulated environment.
Degree in Medical Technology, certification by ASCP or its equivalent,
eligibility for Hawaii Clinical Laboratory Technologist license, and
previous blood banking experience required.
Medical Technologist (SBB), Full Time
Reference Laboratory section. Duties include conducting laboratory tests and
procedures in the reference and donor blood testing sections of our
laboratory. Reference Laboratory (RL) experience/competency and SBB
qualified individuals may receive special consideration and assignments.
Applicants with 5+ years of RL experience may be considered for a possible
supervisory position. MT must have a baccalaureate In MT or related science,
ASCP CMT or equivalent, eligible for LCLT by State of Hawaii Department of
Health, previous blood banking experience and understanding of underlying
scientific principles and technical/procedural aspects of laboratory
testing.
RNs and LPNs, Full Time (Continuous Recruitement)
Greet, screen and care for donors throughout the donation process. Must be a team player, and be able to travel throughout the State. Must be available to work flexible hours to meet community blood needs. Current State of Hawaii RN or LPN license required.
Telephone Recruiter, Full Time
Recruits volunteer
blood donors by telephone. Conducts one-to-one telephone recruitment of
donors, meeting regulatory requirements as well as the Blood Bank’s
standard operating procedures. Interview donor over the telephone to
ascertain if the donor meets Blood Bank of Hawaii’s eligibility
requirements. Gathers personal data to be used to create and update
donor records. Must be knowledgeable about the Blood Bank’s donor
recruitment and retention policies and procedures. Type 45 wpm,
pleasant disposition and attitude, good communication skills. Sales or
marketing background a plus. Able to adjust hours to meet need for
blood in the community.
