Wallace Theatres Team Among Holiday Heroes
Butch Galdeira, General Manager of Wallace Theaters Enchanted Lakes, gladly agreed to host a blood drive on Independence Day and is among the Blood Bank of Hawaii's corporate holiday heroes—those who demonstrate commitment to Hawaii's patients by scheduling blood drives during times of traditionally low-donor turnout. “Our blood bank representative informed us that the Fourth of July, like all holidays, puts a real strain on the blood supply since school is out and people are busy with activities and special vacation plans,” Galdeira said. “We decided right away to hold a blood drive on that day because we understood how much we were needed and felt up to the challenge.” Wallace Theatres Enchanted Lakes surpassed a 40-pint goal at their blood drive on Memorial Day. Galdeira then committed to the July blood drive only six weeks later, increasing the collection goal to 60 pints. Wallace Theatres showed their gratitude for those who gave the gift of life by providing popcorn and unlimited movies for the day. “Because donors are advised to refrain from strenuous activity after their donation, we were pleased to offer a day of relaxing entertainment as a gesture of thanks for doing something so important with their holiday time,” he said. t |
