Lady Lifesavers Month

Women are invited to join City & County of Honolulu Deputy Director Cynthia Bond, 49th Annual Cherry Blossom Festival Queen Catherine Toth, blood recipient Debbi Hazama, Hawaii entertainer Nohelani Cypriano, and KITV 4 news anchor Paula Akana in celebrating Lady Lifesavers Month by giving blood in August, a time when the blood supply often drops to dangerously low levels.

Of Hawaii's 28,000 blood donors, about 40 percent are women. This statistic is impressive, considering the female donor base is impacted by the 110-pound weight requirement and hemoglobin counts more often than their male counterparts.

In addition to the satisfaction of helping save up to three lives, participants will receive a Lady Lifesaver certificate and will be entered in a random drawing to win a complimentary massage, manicures, cosmetics and other great prizes.
