New System Makes Appointment Reminder Phone Calls

The donors you recruit for your next blood drive may receive an appointment reminder call from the Blood Bank of Hawaii through a new automated system called HouseCalls.

The system calls a donor's home with a timely reminder for upcoming appointments and can also be used to deliver other important information such as eligibility notices and calls for specific blood types.

The new HouseCalls system will supplement the efforts of donor representatives, like Jonette Correia (above), who spend their days and evenings on the phone calling blood donors.

“We’re utilizing the new system because we feel it’s important to provide a higher level of service and a more efficient means of communication,” explained BBH President & Medical Director Robyn Yim, M.D.

BBH has 11 donor service representatives who spend their days and evenings on the phone calling blood donors. The new system will supplement their efforts. Personal and email reminders for your upcoming blood drive are also encouraged. If you have questions about the new system or would like to update your phone number, please call Jonette Correia at (808) 848-4721 (Neighbor Islands 1-800-372-9966 ext. 721).
