New Director Oversees Donor Recruitment
The Blood Bank of Hawaii recently promoted Aaron Knapp to Director of Donor Services. He will oversee the department responsible for coordinating blood drives and recruiting donors to the Dillingham and Downtown donor centers. “I’m looking forward to strengthening relationships with existing blood drive coordinators and community leaders and building relationships with new individuals as well,” Knapp said. Knapp joined BBH in 2001 and was promoted to senior field representative in 2003. He handled all Maui and Kona blood drives and worked closely with coordinators from colleges, universities, businesses, hospitals and medical facilities on Oahu. Knapp replaces Wendy Abe who has been promoted to vice president of strategic development. She will play an integral role in establishing the Blood Bank's long-term goals and resource development programs to facilitate the center's ability to meet the growing needs of our state. “Since joining the Blood Bank in 2001, Abe has been instrumental in surpassing the 50,000 pint collection mark, which moved BBH from the small blood center category to a medium blood center,” said BBH President and Medical Director Robyn Yim, M.D. |
