Keiki Can Help Make Blood Drives Successful

If your Lifesaver Club has any connection to children’s groups or teenagers, you many be able to involve them in your lifesaving efforts.

Take the opportunity to educate future blood donors and help them associate positive experiences with blood drives.

Holy Family Academy School Administrator Paul Bishay appeared at a school assembly as a blood drop and encouraged students to recruit family members to donate.

Get the Family Involved
The Holy Family Academy hosted a successful blood drive based entirely on participation from students’ families. Holy Family Academy School Administrator Paul Bishay appealed to students by appearing at an assembly in a blood drop costume. He talked about the need for blood in our community and invited students to play an important part in saving lives by asking parents and family members to donate. As a result, 39 people participated in their blood drive.

Kids Can Make Signs and Posters
Kids make great artists, too! Invite your BBH representative to share a short, fun-filled presentation on blood donation then ask students to create posters for your next blood drive using the information. The Hawaii Kai Cares Community blood drive did just that by partnering with the children at the Kamiloiki Summer Fun Program.

Kids Can Make Phone Calls
Teenagers love being on the phone. Give them the opportunity to help save lives by making appointment reminder calls to your donors.
