In Donors with Red Defender Ads
Look! On the
television! It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's a public service
announcement starring the animated superhero the Red Defender, now
available on DVD from your Blood Bank of Hawaii field representative.
Consider showing the humorous yet thought provoking commercials
developed by the Ad Council at your next recruitment event or blood
drive. The two spots, which are being played across the nation and at
Bloodsaves.com,
relay the simple message - “Saving the world isn't easy, but saving a
life is.”
In the “Car”
spot, the Red Defender protects a school from an incoming missile by
launching a car towards it. The owner of the car is unhappy that his car
was destroyed in the heroic act and gets into an argument with the Red
Defender about replacing his vehicle.
In the “Gold Reserve” ad, the Red Defender's wife answers an emergency
call from the police about a robbery. After the superhero finishes up in
the bathroom, he flies out the window and captures the two crooks. The
onlookers begin laughing at him because a piece of toilet paper is
hanging out of his superhero costume.
The animated commercials were developed by J.J. Sedelmaier Productions,
the same studio responsible for the “TV Funhouse” cartoons for NBC's
