Are Your Colleagues Seeing The Signs?

Lack of information or advanced notice to donors about a blood drive is a common reason for low turnout and missed blood drive goals.

In planning publicity for your next drive, consider creating eye-catching posters and fliers that spark donor interest. Here are some helpful tips:

Post information and signage in high visibility areas
The cluttered bulletin board at the back of the employee lunchroom is not the best place to get the word out. Think of places that employees frequent and won't simply walk past. Good places to post blood drive information include elevators, bathroom stalls, lunchroom tables and near the coffee pot or water jug.

Feature photos of your company’s donors or recipients
Statistics show that including photos of people your co-workers or members recognize is a sure fire way to get a reader’s attention. Digital photos and scanners make it easy to feature photos of co-workers or company donors on your blood drive fliers. Ask employees to join these outstanding donors at the upcoming blood drive.

Get creative
“Save 3 Lives in an Hour,” “Just Donate It,” and “You’re Just Our Type” are some of the catchy headlines or slogans that may add a little bit of interest to your flier. Let your BBH representative know if you need help producing these materials.

Take advantage of available materials
Your Blood Bank of Hawaii field representative can assist you in displaying patient posters and obtaining flier templates, banners, brochures and table-tent cards. Contact your field
representative to request the materials that would be helpful at your drive.

Straub Clinic & Hospital Blood Drive Poster

(Left)This Straub Clinic & Hospital blood drive poster featured blood donor and surgeon Mark Grattan, M.D., (second from left) and his surgical team. In their line of work, they are all familiar with the daily need for blood. For effective signage, consider using photos of company donors or blood recipients that co-workers will recognize.
