Primary Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Component Laboratory Supervisor, Component Laboratory Technician II works independently to perform tasks involved in the manufacture and quality control of blood components.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Follows organizational policies and procedures and performs duties in compliance with BBH SOPs, cGMPs and external regulations.
• Assures quality customer service to all customers.
• Receives and prepares whole blood, apheresis blood components, and samples.
• Performs daily production maintenance and QC.
• Produces cryoprecipitate and plasma cryoprecipitate reduced.
• Inspects, labels, quarantines and destroys (discards) blood components.
• Releases components from quarantine.
• Performs all testing required for the quality control of blood components.
• Prepares apheresis platelet products and completes bacterial detection testing.
• Performs tasks and documentation required for the completion of blood component lot release.
• Operates, maintains and performs required quality control procedures on all equipment used in component production and product quality control testing.
• Performs required record review for the Component Laboratory area
• Processes autologous components.
• Follows organizational policies and procedures and performs duties in compliance with cGMP regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Education
• Demonstrated competence as a Blood Bank of Hawaii Laboratory Technician I preferred.
• Previous medical/clinical laboratory experience desirable.
• High School graduate or equivalent required.

• Good oral, reading and written communication skills with the ability to give detailed information or instructions, ask questions that can be easily understood, and read, comprehend and apply information contained in written materials. Clear and legible handwriting.
• Good listening skills with the ability to receive and comprehend detailed oral or written information.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.28 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule:
• 8-hour shift
• Morning shift
• Evening shift
• Weekends as needed
